My childhood

I think that the description of my childhood is the most difficult task I've ever had... There are so many memories and thoughts connected with this word that it seems almost impossible to pull them together. We can associate it with many places and people as well as set it in different periods of time, which makes it a dream- the one which is very nice but hard to remember :) Nonetheless, there is something I can call to my mind and moreover, I can remember every small detail of this particular memory- our clandestine excursions to the orchard on the other side of the street, organised in order to play hide and seak. They had to be clandestine because we were to small to be allowed to cross the street without an adult; but forbidden fruit is always more attractive, isn't it? ;p

What a wonderful world!

It sounds positive, doesn't it? -these are refrain words from a song performed by Louis Daniel Armstrong who was an American jazz trumpeter from New Orleans, Louisiana; a singer of recognizable deep and gravelly voice, and one of the first truly popular African-American entertainers whose skin-color was secondary to his amazing talent in a severely racially divided country. He was a great singer who strongly influenced the music trend in America between the 1920s and 1960s. Privately, he was also a huge supporter of the Civil Rights movement. All in all, he was a man of a great success and unforgettable personality.
I encourage you to listen to the song and empathize with its lyrics- especially during rainy days because it has some magic healing powers! ;)

Minature horse fitted with prosthetic leg :-)

Since we are fed up with news about people's sense of superiority and numerous cases in which they ill-treat their animals I'd like to show you that people who respect quadrupeds are, still, not dying breeds..
On the 23th of March there were some news on the BBC about a miniature horse who was born without most of his right rear leg. Thanks to some ingenious engineering he has been given a new lease of life- his carers approached a firm which makes prosthetic limbs for humans and asked if they could help..
The four-year-old horse has been provided with a prosthetic leg thanks to which he has an opportunity to live his 30-year life at full capacity. To see how the horse breaks into a gallop for the first time you can click here www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-12837035

Oto jest Kasia!

This is the title of a Mira Jaworczakowa's book, which used to be discussed in the third class of the primary school, and which I got from my mother when I was ten. What might be found interesting is the reason for which I got it, as the school I attended did not choose the book as the one to be read obligatory (unfortunately)...
As far as I can remember, I've always fought with my older sister for no reason, which my mother was, undoubtedly, fed up with. Having tried numerous conversations with both of us, she used the last resort- the book about a little girl named Kasia, who lived in an everlasting argument with her sister. The plot seems to be interesting for any ten-year-old as it excellently illustrates both family and school life of the young girl. Although the ending is obvious- Kasia appreciates the ties of friendship between her and her sister, there are numerous threads which give color to the whole. Having looked through the book, I came across quite a nice passage:
"Kasia pobiegła do swojego pokoju i zaraz posadziła obok siebie na małych krzesełkach lalki: śliczną Małgosię, różowego naguska [whatever it is], Murzynka i misia w czerwonym kubraczku. Będzie lekcja. To są uczniowie, a Kasia jest panią w klasie.
Kasia- nauczycielka wezwała do tablicy naguska.
I have never asked whether the aim had been reached or not, but I am firmly concerned that I was to draw certain conclusions from the book. I was to put myself into fictitious Kasia's shoes and stop fighting with my sister like cat and dog.. Not to mention the fact that I am currently studying at The Teacher Training College :)
